I don’t understand…

So ever since I moved to Baton Rouge whenever I tell someone that I’m from Texas they immediately look at me and say “yeah, you look like a Texan.” Okay, I’m not offended by this at all because I love being from Texas, but I have never understood what “you look like a Texan” actually means. Can someone please explain to me what a Texan looks like? How do I look different from my friends here in Baton Rouge? It’s just weird I tell you. So if you have an answer please tell me, because I would love to know how we Texans look different from the rest of the nation.

Hello friends

So I just recently found out that some people actually read my blog, which is exciting because I didn’t think anyone even knew about my blog. I don’t really have anything great to write right this second, but I just wanted to say to those who actually are checking that I’m going to start writing more often. :) Until my next post I hope y’all have a wonderful Sunday!

Just something to think about

I love quotes. I don’t know if y’all knew that about me, but I do. Anyway, today a fellow intern sent me an e-mail with this quote in it, but what’s so amazing isn’t what it says (even though its a awesome quote) its that God is so awesome & had it sent to me this week as I’ve seriously been stretched to be patience & wait on God. And I’ll be honest, after reading it I definitely had an attitude check… All I have to say is that God is so awesome! He does far more than we can ever imagine or deserve… Anyway, if any of y’all are waiting on God to do a mighty work I hope this helps give you some perspective while you wait…

” The mighty work that you are waiting on God to do cannot even compare to the mighty work He is doing in you as you are waiting.”

The worst blogger ever!

So I’ve pretty much been the worst blogger ever. As you can see, I haven’t blogged since August. So I thought I would make a slide show to show you what’s been going on in my life rather than having to type it all out. Enjoy! :)

God is sooo good!

So yesterday afternoon a few of us went down to the Baton Rouge Dream Center and handed out free lunches to some of the residents. It’s such an awesome thing to see how people react to you giving them free stuff, especially down in this area of town. Example: while my friend Barton & I were walking around asking people if they would like a free lunch, we incountered this one man who after we asked if he wanted a free lunch replied: “nothing in life is free, nothing down here is free.” He would not believe that we were giving him something free. He kept asking if we were going to tell him about Jesus or preach at him and when we told him no, he walked up still hesitant & took a lunch…This is where God’s awesomeness just shone… After he took the lunch he looked at me & Barton and gave us a little smile and a wink & walked off with his lunch. How amazing was that! I mean this man before he even talked to us, we could sense his anger but God is so much bigger than that. He used something as simple as a free lunch to soften this man’s heart just a little. Man!! It’s moments like that, that just fuel me! It’s b/c of moments like that, that we do outreaches… God is good!

Beach Fun!

So last week Mal and I went to Alabama to move some of her bed and other stuff into her new apartment. Being only an hour away from Gulf Shores we decided to make it into a fun beach trip. So here are some pics of our day at the beach… enjoy! :)

For all my Texas peeps

So I just read this on my friend’s facebook profile and I thought it was pretty funny…

A man decided to write a book on churches in America. He started by flying to San Francisco, thinking he would work his way East from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on a wall in the vestibule and was intrigued by a sign that read, “$10,000 per minute”. Seeking out the pastor, he asked about the phone and sign. The pastor answered that the golden phone was, in fact, a direct line to heaven, and if he was willing to pay the price he could talk directly to God.The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, and across the United States, he found more such phones, each with the same sign and a similar explanation from the pastor. Finally, the man arrived in the great state of Texas. Upon entering a church in Dallas, he found the usual golden telephone. But, to his amazement, the sign at this particular church read, “Calls: 25 cents”.

Fascinated, the man asked to speak with the pastor.

“Reverend,” he said, “I have been in cities all across this nation. In each church I have found this golden phone, and every pastor has told me that I could use it to speak directly to heaven… But in every other church, the sign has read $10,000 per minute. Your sign says it’s only 25 cents a call… Why is that?”

The pastor, smiling kindly, replied:

“Son, you’re in Texas now, and it’s a local call.”

Dynamite Baby!

s5000528.jpg

I’m DYNAMITE!! At least that’s what my Prims class thinks… Tonight during class one of the little girls in Mallory and I’s Prims class gave us both pretty pink plaques as gifts for being her teacher. Isn’t that cute?!? Mal’s has plastic rail road tracks on it in the shape of an M, because she was the teacher that kept us on track… Kind of cheesy I know, but I think it was sweet. So I thought I would share it with everyone else… Enjoy! :)

Seriously, these girls are awesome and I absolutely love getting together with them to talk about how amazing our God truly is! We’re actually reading the book Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, if you’ve never read it or never heard of it I would definately recommend it to you.
